This innovative website offers children in grades 4-8 an opportunity to construct their own pathways to learning through a number of distinct, but interrelated, modules that stimulate the learner’s natural curiosity and sense of play.
The current module helps students gain an understanding of modern
astronomy, its connection to astrology, and the history of writing, by traveling back in time to where these concepts originated — with the Sumerians in Mesopotamia, thousands of years ago. Through various activities — some of which can be done on and off the web, both independently or with others — students re-create this story in a playful and humorous interactive environment, and develop important logic, language, and science skills.
This resource takes full advantage of the interactive and creative dimensions of the on-line environment, enabling students to explore many virtual possibilities with down-to-earth results. Varied activities at this site challenge students to solve puzzles, decipher secret messages, connect the stars, and rotate 3D models to investigate the constellations. |
