VOX Talk
Max Valiquette and the VOX team will be visiting different locations to give teens the chance to react to news and issues that affect them personally. The weekly fests will feature a mixed panel of students and experts and an audience entirely composed of fellow classmates. Were creating a positive environment for young people to sound off about fun and entertaining topics such as dating and pop culture, as wll as more serious issues such as activism and consumerism, says series producer Maria Farano. Teens are opinionated and passionate about all kinds of issues. By bringing our show directly to them, theyll feel more empowered in expressing their views and knowing theyre being heard. |

As if school and parents arent enough, teens have another stress to deal with: bullying. Bullying in 2004 has gone beyond the occasional push and shove. Now, teens, especially girls are becoming more aggressive. Bullying has gone beyond verbal and physical abuse. Its gone electronic now too. For some teens bullying has become so serious that they become depressed, dont want to go to school or even enjoy life. Sounds familiar, sounds like boys being boys? Well, its increasingly likely that its girls being girls, as well. From devastating gossip to insults and lies and now even physical violence, its as if girls are more aggressive than ever before. So where did this come from? Is it as bad as it sounds or just a lot of media hype? What ever happened to sugar and spice and everything nice?

And while we like to think of ourselves as one big happy cultural mosaic, the truth is that fitting in and asapting can be an incredibly difficult process for immigrant teenagers.
Do All Canadians have the same opportunities? Is fitting in a realistic possibility, or even desirable? And as we become even more diverse, are we even ready to handle a massive influx of immigrant teens?
